Helimet is a shared weather information tool used by the helicopter industry that supports the offshore energy industry in the UK. The system was developed under industry leadership as a cross industry collaborative aviation safety tool, where each company’s regional weather information is validated and then shared with the helicopter operators and other offshore energy companies. The success of this collaborative tool has been such that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has mandated its use by the offshore industry in the latest 2016 edition of CAP 437 (Standards for Offshore Helicopter Landing areas).
